The Ambassador

H.E. Roberta Di Lecce

Born in Rome on January 5, 1979, she graduated in International and Diplomatic Sciences from the University of Trieste in 2002. She obtained a Master’s degree in Public Economics and Public Administration from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 2003, and a Master’s in European Political and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges in 2004. Following a competitive examination, on December 30, 2004 she was appointed Attaché in probation within the diplomatic career.

After her initial assignments at the Directorate General for Sub-Saharan Africa and the Directorate General for European Integration of the Ministry, in 2008 she served as First Secretary at the Embassy of Italy in Khartoum (Sudan).

From 2012 she worked as First Secretary and later as Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Italy to the European Union in Brussels.

In 2016 she returned to Rome to serve at the Crisis Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In 2019 she was appointed Counsellor and subsequently First Counsellor at the Embassy of Italy in Beirut (Lebanon). In 2023 she assumed the role of Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Italy in Damascus.

In 2024 she returned to Rome to serve at the Directorate General for Political Affairs as Head of Office.

In 2025 she was appointed Ambassador of Italy to the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, also accredited to Liberia and Sierra Leone.

In 2022 she was awarded the title of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
