Presentation of the Letters of Credence of the Ambassador of Italy to Liberia (24th–27th May, Monrovia)

On Monday, 25th May, the Ambassador of Italy, Roberta Di Lecce, presented her Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Liberia, Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr., thus formally marking the beginning of her mandate in the country.

During the audience, Ambassador Di Lecce and President Boakai reviewed the state of bilateral relations between Italy and Liberia, reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in the areas of peace, regional stability, and sustainable development.

On the occasion of the presentation of credentials, Ambassador Di Lecce also met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Ethel Davis. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss issues of common interest, including global challenges, multilateral cooperation, and Italy’s contribution to United Nations initiatives in Liberia and across the West African region.

Ambassador Di Lecce also met with former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the first woman Head of State in Africa and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, for an exchange of views on the opportunities and challenges facing Africa in the 21st century and on the role of women in the present and future of the continent.

In a Team Europe spirit, Ambassador Di Lecce finally took part in a joint reflection with the EU Delegation and fellow European and like‑minded Ambassadors resident and accredited in Monrovia.
