The relevant legal framework is set out in Article 36 of Legislative Decree 286\/1998 and Article 44 of Presidential Decree 394\/1999, which define the required conditions, criteria, and documentation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The application may also be submitted by a family member or by another person with a legitimate interest. The visa may likewise be issued to an <strong>accompanying person<\/strong>, provided that they have sufficient financial means for the duration of the stay.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>residence permit for medical treatment<\/strong> is <strong>valid for the duration of the therapeutic treatment<\/strong>, may be <strong>renewed<\/strong> as long as documented clinical needs persist, and <strong>allows the holder to carry out work activities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>For simple medical check\u2011ups<\/strong>, a <strong>tourist visa<\/strong> may be issued, provided that the legal conditions and requirements are met. The Embassy of Italy may request a certificate issued by a doctor of its choice confirming that <strong>the necessary treatment is not available in the applicant\u2019s country of residence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What documentation is required?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To obtain the visa, the applicant must submit, in addition to the duly completed and signed application form, a valid travel document and passport photos:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>A medical certificate describing the pathology<\/strong>, issued by an Italian healthcare facility or by a foreign medical institution deemed suitable by the Embassy, with translation into Italian;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>A declaration from the selected Italian healthcare facility<\/strong> (public or accredited private) indicating the type of treatment, the start date, the estimated duration of the treatment, and any hospitalization period;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>A statement from the chosen Italian healthcare facility confirming the payment of a security deposit equal to<\/strong> <strong>30% of the estimated total cost<\/strong> of the required medical services;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Documentation proving<\/strong> the availability in Italy of <strong>sufficient financial resources<\/strong> to fully cover medical expenses, food and accommodation outside the facility, and the repatriation of the patient and any accompanying person;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Round\u2011trip travel ticket<\/strong> (or <strong>booking<\/strong>), also for any accompanying person.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"VISA FEE: CFA F 77,000 The medical treatment visa allows foreign nationals to enter Italy for a short\u2011 or long\u2011term stay, always for a limited period, in order to undergo medical treatment in accredited public or private Italian healthcare facilities.
